Idília Ramos
Mother, Author, Founder & CEO of Colégio S. Gonçalo
I was born here, in Lagos — a town that once sent caravels into the unknown, trusting the sea, the wind, and the courage to move forward. My own journey began here too, in a childhood marked by instability, mental illness, and absence. From early on, I learned to keep going.
I started working at 13, studied while working full-time, and built a career driven by movement, achievement, and momentum. By 28, I became a Chief Human Resources Officer. But constant motion has a cost. I didn’t recognize burnout when it arrived — I simply called it strength.
At 36, after losing my mother, I returned to Lagos and built a school from nothing. A place where 250 children now grow in knowledge, joy, and belonging — and where I slowly learned something new: that growth also requires stillness.
I am a mother of three, an author, and a lifelong seeker. Today, I believe that healing happens when we allow ourselves to pause — because sometimes, the bravest journey isn’t moving forward but standing still long enough to truly change.
