Befriending the Unknown
We are wired to seek safety, certainty, and what feels familiar. The unknown can feel uncomfortable because it asks us to step beyond what we can predict or control. Yet throughout history, growth has only happened when people dared to move into uncertainty instead of away from it.
For our third edition in 2027, TEDxPraça Gil Eanes explores the theme "Befriending the Unknown" through ideas from the human experience, science, technology, nature, and the arts. Just as Gil Eanes once sailed beyond Cape Bojador into waters many feared and refused to cross, this edition invites us to rethink our relationship with uncertainty and discover what becomes possible when we stop fearing the unknown and start exploring it.
